J C Martin’s Oracle Character Spotlight: Meghan Lancer

Today, we have a character from writer J.C. Martin’s newly released title Oracle, as part of her  month-long Oracle Olympics Blog Tour, with tons of games and prizes, including a possible grand prize of an iPad3 (for more details, visit J.C. Martin’s blog)

Here is the Oracle Blurb:

Oracle

With London gearing up to host the Olympics, the city doesn’t need a serial killer stalking the streets, but they’ve got one anyway.

Leaving a trail of brutal and bizarre murders, the police force is no closer to finding the latest psychopath than Detective Inspector Kurt Lancer is in finding a solution for his daughter’s disability.

Thrust into the pressure cooker of a high profile case, the struggling single parent is wound tight as he tries to balance care of his own family with the safety of a growing population of potential victims.

One of whom could be his own daughter. (Meghan Lancer, who is profiled here today!)

Fingers point in every direction as the public relations nightmare grows, and Lancer’s only answer comes in the form of a single oak leaf left at each crime scene.

And here’s today’s character profile!
Fact file:
Name: Meghan Angela Lancer
Age: 8
D.O.B.: July 6th
Likes: Books, cartoons, world legends and mythology, the colour pink
Dislikes: Spicy food, not spending time with Daddy, when Daddy and Uncle Reggie fight
Bio:
Meghan is Detective Lancer’s daughter. After having recently lost her mother in the line of duty, she is terrified that the same will happen to her father, who is progressively losing himself in work to cope with his grief. Her only other family is her uncle Reggie, a constant source of comic relief, but Daddy and Uncle Reggie seem to be fighting more, something to do with Uncle Reggie’s ‘homie’ friends.
While she loves reading and watching cartoons on TV, Meghan has been having trouble doing either, as her genetic eye condition progresses. Forced to wear magnifying eyeglasses and to learn to read Braille, she struggles to adapt to life with impaired vision. It gets especially difficult when Daddy, instead of supporting her, becomes frustrated with her worsening disability.
Meghan doesn’t know the details of Daddy’s latest case, but she knows from news reports that the killer is dangerous. While she fears for her father’s safety at work, an unseen threat stalks her in the very place she should feel safest in—her home.

About the Author

J.C. Martin is a butt-kicking bookworm: when she isn’t reading or writing, she teaches martial arts and self-defence to adults and children.

After working in pharmaceutical research, then in education as a schoolteacher, she decided to put the following to good use: one, her 2nd degree black belt in Wing Chun kung fu; and two, her overwhelming need to write dark mysteries and gripping thrillers with a psychological slant.

Her short stories have won various prizes and have been published in several anthologies. Oracle is her first novel. Born and raised in Malaysia, J.C. now lives in south London with her husband and three dogs.
