ummm I can just imagine lying back in a canoe, my back against pillows my hand trailing in cool water, as the sun dips into the evening…a beautiful thought and stunning pic.

What a beautiful photograph! When I think of holding fast to stillness, I think of kneeling in a church for an hour of adoration of God. That stillness is perfect, and a gift, to me.

Such a clear photograph. The colours and contrast along with the reflection makes it even better.

So for this title, I first thought that comes to my mind is "balance"…. Holding firm to have the balance in life. Not letting go off your belief.

To me, any body of water no matter how large or small speaks of peace, calmness and an awareness of the mightiness of God to create such a wonderful gift.

That picture makes the line just a bit funny, because water is not usually completely still other than in a still photo. Plus, the little kayak (or whatever it's called) would surely cause even more movement if a person actually got into it.

But the photo IS still, and therefore very peaceful. I always think of stillness as a moment of peace and tranquility. It's important to have those moments in your life, away from all the hectic stuff going on. It's good for your health too. 🙂

What always gets me about pictures like this is…where are the bugs? I've been to still ponds before, but the waterbugs are always going non-stop! 🙂

I just love the photo….such a peaceful sight! I too wish to hold onto a moment in time, be at peace with myself and the world! But, too many thoughts swirl in my head for that to happen! 🙂

    Hold firmly to stillness…

To me, that means finding an unshakable center–an eye at the heart of life's storm. A place that's safe and certain and still as stone. An oasis at the crossroads of body, mind and spirit that's a haven when the world is not.

    Thanks for the thought-provoking prompt!

This is one of the best quotes I have come across. Stillness is something we require today, where we are constantly on the move. It just gives us time to think, live in the moment and be content.

Sometimes — most times, actually — the only way I can hold firmly to stillness is to write. That's what keeps me sane, gives me perspective, helps me to gain my balance. To me, stillness is being quiet in my heart and mind and acceptance of who I am — and loving me.
