Where do I find the Shadow of Your Smile?

100 Words on Saturday
100 Words on Saturday

I’ve signed up for 100 Words On SaturdayIntroduced in February 2013 – by Corinne Rodrigues, it an invitation, a prompt, a linky. We are to write exactly a 100 words on the prompt and publish it on our blogs – a story, a poem, a mini-essay. 100 Words on Saturday will be up  2nd and 4th Saturday each month.

Prompt: The Shadow of Your Smile : My 100- word fiction attempt:

The Shadow of your Smile
The Shadow of your Smile

This is no time to come unstuck, not when you’re smiling at me, when your body perfumes this summer breeze, that essence of your skin that lulls me to sleep each night as I bury my nose in the crook of your neck. Not when your fingers twine with mine as we kiss, tasting of ripe apricots you baked in honey and cumin; when the grass tickles your feet just as it does mine as we walk, holding fast, each to the other. Not when I know that come autumn, I’ll be left with just the shadow of your smile.

Elegant. It is cool what one can do with a challenge … 100 words … and the transcendence here is not only in imagery but communicated in words. Good job. I’ll try to get a copy of your A To Z Stories.

To be succinct in rich text with a hundred word limit and brim over with a romantic flavour is a feat that should be lauded for a long time. You have achieved this.

  3. Owls and Orchids

Beautiful. I have difficulty limiting myself to,100 words so I applaud anyone who can, and tell such a provocative story. Well done and thank you for siting my blog. Much appreciated. Susan 😊
