When I’m down in the dumps about my writing, I turn to Dr. Seuss. Here’s what I found today:

Today you are You
That is truer than true
There is no one alive
Who is youer than You.

Who do you turn to when your writing or reading or life gives you the blues?

Damyanti Biswas

  • Ooh, great quote. No wonder it cheers you up! When I'm feeling down, I have a habit of turning to Archie Comics, I must admit…

    Dr. Seuss
    Is on the loose
    In a caboose
    With a moose
    And a goose
    Footloose

The me in me turns to Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar, when the blues become too much.

A peaceful day to you, Damyanti.

  • Such an apt quote for a fantastic question, Damyanti. There's no place to turn but within!

  • shelly says:

Yup. I usually turn to friends, too. Pray, too, when things get to me.

  • Li says:

I turn to my best friend or (drumroll) – I clean something! Yes, it's odd, but it gives me something to do with my hands while my mind can just sort of wander. And if I don't get any inspiration – well, at least the bathroom or kitchen is now sparkling clean!

  • I love this, 'no one is youer than you.' So true.

  • I usually turn to friends or set aside my writing and knit a little. I do something relaxing that helps me unwind and whatever is getting my writing down goes away.
