#Writemotivation and Anti Blogfest in Honour of Gary Pennick

Author friend and blog + twitter pal K T Hanna runs a twitter hashtag for writers, the #writemotivation , where writers sign up and cheer each other on to their respective goals.

The Rules:

  1. Make a list of realistic goals for the month – and achieve them.
  2. Make
a Blog Post every week (preferably Monday, but if you don’t post on
Mondays just add it to the next day you would normally post ).
This is to help us keep tabs on our own progress, and for others to
cheer us on if it’s a difficult week. Please link to the post in the
    #writemotivation hashtag
  3. Visit your #writemotivation teammates’ blogs, and participate in the #writemotivation hashtag on twitter to cheer people on.
So here are my goals:
1. Four Blog Posts a Week, one on each blog
2. 5000 words a week on the second draft of my #WIP

I did good at the first one, but the second one, not so good. I’ve barely hit 2000 words.

But I was traveling, so this week, now that I’m home, should be better. Still panicking, sigh.

And now for the more cheerful part of the blog post.

In honor of Gary Pennick, who hates anything to do with promotions but promotes his fellow bloggers, kindly and unfailingly, we have the Anti Blogfest Gary Fest

Hosted by Mark “Madman” Koopmans, Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh, Rockin’ Robyn Engel, Morgan “The Morg” Shamy,

Tina @Life is Good this fest requires participants to invent
three silly, corny, stupid or annoying blogfests that they’d never
join.

Here are blogfests I’ll never participate in:

1. Bitch about Bloggers: This is a fest where you say bad things about other bloggers. Word to the wise: if you ever want to host such a blogfest, prepare for your blog to shut down real soon. I’ve never seen a more mutually supportive community than the blogiverse.

2. I Hate Chocolate Blogfest: Who hates chocolate? Enough said.

3. Bodyparts Blogfest: This is a real blogfest I’ve seen on the net, but I wouldn’t link to it. It is all about photocopying parts of your anatomy to post on your blog. Ugh.

I’m off to check out the other bloggers who signed up for both #writemotivation and Anti Blogfest Gary Fest.

What about you? Do you feel in need for #writemotivation? What Blogfest would you never take part in?

  • I have a feeling that #3 is a real case of virtual "body snatchers," as many people are not that confident of their own bodies. I agree that the anti-chocolate blogfest would be too devastating! Great ideas Damyanti!

You've actually seen #3 on the net??!! That's just yucky. 😛
I really enjoyed your blogfest ideas, and wish you good luck on your writing goals!

  • The bitching about bloggers seems a bit… oxymoronic.

Any progress on your goals is good. Even if you don't hit the word count you want, you're words closer.

  • Hi, Damyanti,

Great choice. I couldn't agree more! We are a VERY SUPPORTIVE community and that is why WE ROCK!!!!!!!!

AGREED… how can ANYONE HATE CHOCOLATE!

Body parts? I with Alex, I can't believe there actually was one!

  • I thought about doing an "I Hate Chocolate" blogfest too. You are brilliant. Enough said!

    Thanks for joining this Gary-fest.

The Bodyparts Blogfest really exists? People are really daring… or stupid. Or a bit of both…

  • I sympathise with Gary. Promotion is the ugly side of our profession but without it… *shrugs* As for those blogfest suggestions, I could see myself taking part in a 'We Love Chocolate' one but Body Parts! Are you serious?

  • I believe I'd had to skip all of these. However, if I'm deprived of chocolate long enough, it's entirely possible that I might be able to muster up a teensy bit of bitchiness. (But never about other bloggers, of course!)

  • Donna Hole says:

Well, I won't say I hate chocolate – but I wouldn't cross the street to pick it up off the ground . . .

Good luck with all the goals 🙂

    ….dhole

  • Trisha F says:

Yeah, I'd avoid all of these 'fests as well. 😉

Also, my cousin did hate chocolate when he was a teenager. Not sure if he still does. 🙂

    Hi Damyanti,

Before I fall asleep, thought I'd check out what's happening on your site. So, what's happening?

I do hope you keep your goals realistic in workable amounts. Please don't put too much pressure on your good self.

Three worthy contenders for non-participation. Your first one is very reminiscent of one I thought about creating if I was into blogfests or blog hops or what's that one regarding the alphabet…

Thanks for the irony. You know I care. Well sort of! 🙂

    Gary 🙂

  • Jay Noel says:

Ouch. The Bitch About Bloggers one made me cringe. That blogfest would not be fun at all. It'd get ugly real fast.

  • Morgan says:

    Love your goals!

And I seriously laughed OUT LOUD with the chocolate blogfest… and I CAN'T believe that the body part one exists… WEIRD!

(And so glad to be following you now–how have we not met yet? Love your blog)

    😀

  • Tina says:

OMG, the body parts one has been mentioned more than once today…thanks for helping us honor Gary, and best of luck with your writing group. Sounds really supportive. Gary would approve 🙂
    Tina @ Life is Good

  • Don't panic about writing, that never helps! Just sit down at the computer, take a deep breath, and type. 😀

And a bodyparts blogfest? Seriously? Some people have waaaaaay too much time…

  • That last one is real? I guess it's for people who like to sit on the copy machine at work.
