This Tuesday, it is time for the teaser again, and this time it is a book my husband downloaded : 11/12/63.
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Here are two teaser sentences from 11/12/63 by Stephen King:
“I knew where I was; Lisbon Falls, Maine, deep in the heart of Androscoggin County. The real question was when I was.”
Blurb: “If you had the chance to change the course of history, would you? Would the consequences be what you hoped?
Jake Epping 35 teaches high school English in Lisbon Falls, Maine, and cries reading the brain-damaged janitor’s story of childhood Halloween massacre by their drunken father. On his deathbed, pal Al divulges a secret portal to 1958 in his diner back pantry, and enlists Jake to prevent the 11/22/1963 Dallas assassination of American President John F. Kennedy. Under the alias George Amberson, our hero joins the cigarette-hazed full-flavored world of Elvis rock n roll, Negro discrimination, and freeway gas guzzlers without seat belts. Will Jake lurk in impoverished immigrant slums beside troubled loner Lee Harvey Oswald, or share small-town friendliness with beautiful high school librarian Sadie Dunhill, the love of his life?”
When I started the book I hadn’t read either the blurb or any reviews, just read the first page and gone on from there. I do that a lot with books on e-readers. So I had no idea this was an alternative history. Now that I’ve started it, Mr. King has persuaded me to keep reading the sort of book I would normally never start on. Let’s see where this journey takes me.
I’m aching to read this one from King! It isn’t available to me yet, here in the Middle East, but when it comes all else will be laid aside for it!
I like this TT exercise… thinking maybe I’ll participate in it.
Just stopped by to thank you for your “Like” of my post on Walking the Cat. . .I’ve read 11/22/63 and couldn’t put it down! It’s a “nail-biter” for sure. King always hits the spot for me and this one is especially taut. thanks again.
I have a collection of his short stories I need to get to sometime before this century ends 😀
Hi Damyanti, nice prompt and is such an interesting read:)
Sounds like an exciting journey, good teaser.

Like you horror novels aren’t my normal selection, but this one sounds appealing.
BTW, completely off-topic–the 5-star ranking at the top of your post. You’re at 2.5 (as I read your post). The question: How could anyone rank this post that way? It must be in the eye of the beholder and completely unrelated to your work.
Me, that drives me nuts and is why I removed that ranking from my posts. They contribute so little to the conversation.
But that’s just me…
I haven’t read a Stephen King book in such a long time. Hope your enjoying it. Thanks for sharing

I haven’t read this one yet, but I love Stephen King 🙂

Stephen King is such a talented writer. His books always scare me! This sounds like a good one.
My teaser is from THROUGH A YELLOW WOOD.
This is one of my favorite Stephen King books–and I love them all. “It” is my all time fave, but 11/22/63 is probably the second. As always, he sucked me right into the story and characters. A “must read” for King fans.
Great teaser! Love Stephen King Here is my TT http://cynthiastacey.com/2013/08/20/teaser-tuesday-aug-20/
I really loved this one! I don’t enjoy his horror tales too much, but this one kept me glued to my couch. Here’s MY TUESDAY MEMES POST
Good teaser. I’ve heard great things about this book.
I’m playing today here.
That teaser gives me chills. Stephen King is a master, thanks for sharing.
I’m a Stephen King fan too. This sounds intriguing and is definitely going to the top of my to be read list.
I haven’t read any Stephen King, other than On Writing, but I really fancy this one.
Enjoy your reading.. do tell at the end how it was..!!
Excellent book. One of his best, in my opinion, and I’m a die hard King fan. Of course it helps that I have an interest in the JFK assassination 🙂 Even without that, though, it’s a great book.
Stephen King is one of my favorite authors when it comes to the genre of horrors and thrillers! I loved his “Salems Lot”!! Good teaser…..do check out my TT when you have time….
