Insecure Writer's Support Group

Insecure Writers!

This month, I’m all tuckered out, been sick and missed a lot of writing. Feel tired and in need of a holiday.

Well, I’m all whine, whine, whine, so I’ve decided to chip away at it..the whole mountain of stuff I’m lagging behind on.

I’m lucky I have all the time in the world this week to recover from the last two, and I’m just going to make the best of it. Right? Yes, right, no whining, because whining never does anyone any good.

What has everyone else in the group been up to in the last month?

I little over a month ago I spent a week in Cuba. It was a total break from virtually everything, even writing. I know that traveling often induces the opposite effect, but in this case I forced myself to relax.

In a word, Cuba is incredible. Years of economic sanctions haven’t dampened the spirit of the people. They’re vibrant, exuberant and warm. I can’t wait to return. It’s no wonder Hemingway lived there.

  • Don’t knock the restorative properties of a good whine from time to time 😀
Short of becoming a full-blown mood-hoover: it’s good for the soul!

I am impressed by your experience, variety of writing and guests and what I have read on your blog. I want to thank you for following writingiam.wordpress.com. That blog is strictly for my writing. My other blog, papermudandme.wordpress.com has a little of everything including my writing, ceramics and personal thoughts. Thanks again for following. Aloha – pjs.

Thanks for liking my work. It makes me feel a little better about myself. Ian

  • Not writing, like you! I blame it on IT problems and work being busy but still….

  • Hang in there! It’s okay to give yourself a break and refill the well. My muse has been tired too, so I’ve been using Rory’s Story Cubes and old journals to come up with ideas rather than making up new ones.

  • Yep, I’m having a slow start to my month. Today I made myself sit down to write. Yay, 1500 words! Hope you feel better soon. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Come back on Friday for a free flash fiction story.

Relax a bit & get well soon! Then, you can write with renewed energy & ideas! 🙂

  • Yes, it happens and pretty normal too. Nothing to worry, who know you can come out as a better person, better writer. so chill!! 🙂

Everyone needs a good full bodied Whine once in a while. I use the work excuse to myself when I think I am not writing as much as I should. I probably need new excuses now.

  • Making headway on those ugh tasks and getting away from my writing for a time helps me to recharge my muse. I hope you feel better and get back into the writing groove soon! 🙂

  • Hope you’ve been able to chip away at your to do lists and relax some as well! (Relaxing is helps you be productive in the long run, right?!)

With working a full-time job in addition to my writing, weekends are about the only time I have to really focus on writing for any length of time, but it’s sooooo hard to drag myself to the desk when it’s much easier to sit back and watch bad tv 🙂

So often I feel like an island, but the water is my cocoon as long as I am writing. When I have a week or even as much as a month of not writing regularly, you know I don’t feel safe any more.

Hope you are able to ease yourself back into writing. Feel better. And yes it is ok to whine. Writers get it!!!

My August was like that. With my daughter still home from school, my (writing) schedule was all out of whack. First day back at school for her, I sat down and wrote 3000 effortless words and September continued on like that until I finished a short story, a novella, seven book reviews and a handful of blog posts. My most productive month in a long, long while.

Now I have to edit it all.

It will come! You just have to wait for the planets to align. 😀 (And keep chipping away in the meantime)

  • Good reminder for me today. I’m going to apply it to my blogging life today, as instead of complaining about being “behind” I’m just going to get back up on the horse!

  • I hope you feel better soon! Sometimes you just need some time to rest and relax.

  • Hey, Damyanti,
I hope you feel much better soon. I keep moaning about the lack of time, but I think I need to make better use of my time. Having a strict writing schedule would help. So, I’m gonna have to do that. Hope you get some stuff done.

  • Nothing wrong with whining, as long as there are people nearby to hear it!

  • I’m just trying to keep my head above water… there’s always a million things to do…
    Take care Damyanti.

  • Getting back to school–so busy. And waiting for my son to come visit. Two more weeks–I can’t wait!

    • Damyanti says:

Yay for your son’s visit! Something cool to look forward to 🙂

      • He is a great kid. So easy going–nothing like me. We go to movies, eat take-away, goof around. I can’t believe he still comes home, but he does. I am so lucky.

        • Damyanti says:

If he’s a good kid, a lot of the credit goes to you as well– enjoy his company, life is made of all these moments of happiness. 🙂

Trying to catch up. Always trying to catch up.

  • Some weeks are like that. And sometimes you can’t catch up on everything. Just let go what you can’t. It will be all right.
As I like to ask my wife, want some cheese with your whine?
