Want New #Blogging #Friends ? Join the #CHERISHED Blogfest Today!!

Blogging is all about making connections, sharing information, emotions, opinions, memories. One of the best Blogging advice I have for new bloggers is to participate in Blogfests: choose something easy, and make new friends!

How to make Blogging Friends
Blog Friendships

In the spirit of blog friendships, my good blog friends, Dan Antion , Paul Ruddock, Peter Nena, Sharukh Bamboat and yours truly at Daily (w)rite, invite you to take part in the CHERISHED Blogfest:

Often, objects lead us to memories.

The objects we hold most dear, harbor the most cherished memories.

For the CHERISHED Blogfest, we invite you to talk to us about one of your cherished objects. Tell us what it is, post a picture of it if you like, and tell us why you cherish it.

Keep your post to below 500 words.

Join us on the 24th to 26th of July 2015 in sharing memories, emotions, information: we’ll read and comment on each others’ posts, get to know each other better, and hopefully, make or renew some friendships.

Cherished Blogfest

For those with new blogs, adding your blog to the linky list below, and posting on the 24th-26th July would help you increase your comment love, and followers. Visit and leave comments to everyone on the list, so we all get loads of comment love!

Place the CHERISHED Badge on your sidebar, and help us spread the word on social media. Tweets, Facebook shares, G+ shares through the month most welcome. More Blogfest signups mean more friends and followers at the end of the blogfest.

Sign up in the CHERISHED Linky List below which would open in a new window for signups. (WordPress blogs don’t allow linky lists.)

If you have any queries, drop me a mail at meringue dot p at gmail dot com.

The name ‘Cherished’ and the image is courtesy Cheryl KP, who posts brilliant images and writing on her blog. I would also encourage you to check out the blogs of my cohosts: Dan Antion (the designer of the badge), Paul Ruddock, Peter Nena, Sharukh Bamboat, bloggers with genuine and fascinating takes on everything from life, travel, fiction, and the writing rigmarole.

Paul and Peter  are short story writers and novelists, whereas Dan and Sharukh are excellent non-fiction writers. Follow them right away if you haven’t already!

How long have you been blogging? Have you taken part in any blogfests? Organised them? If yes, have blogfests helped your blog? Do you have many blog friends? Do you share stories with them? Are you signing up for the CHERISHED Blogfest?

If you’re reading this, but don’t have a blog, head over to the discussion on Daily (w)rite’s Facebook Page, where we’re talking about online friendships.

EDIT: We’ve changed the dates to 24th-26th July– I was scatterbrained and didn’t notice 25th/26th was a weekend. My apologies.

I love comments, and I always visit back. Blogging is all about being a part of a community, and communities are about communication! Tweet me up @damyantig !

This is such a great initiative. It is amazing being part of such a big community, and meeting new people from all over the world.

  2. pjlazos

Great idea here, Damyaniti! My only regret is that there’s not enough time to get to everyone on the list. I’ve been checking out other blogger’s posts, but then I get lost in their blogs and hours have gone by! Also, I’m somewhat technologically challenged as I can’t figure out how to get the cherished list on my blog (although I did ask my daughter to put the logo up for me), so there’s that. Maybe by next fest I’ll have figured that piece out. Love your blog, and your enthusiasm. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Kalpanaa

Hey – I’m in too. So let me clarify! Post the badge on our blogs, visit your cohosts, wait till till the dates to put up the Cherished blog post on our blogs and the linky will only be available from the 24th of July onwards, when we will proceed to comment in a flurry of words? Have I missed anything?

    • Damyanti

The Linky is available right now, just click on the link in the post above, where you clicked to sign up.

The flurry of comments happens on the 3 days of the blogfest 🙂

  4. kritsayvonne

I’ve never heard of a Blog fest before so I’ll certainly join in. As my website and blog is all about the Greek island of Crete I’ll make my contribution fit the theme. Thank you for liking a post on my blog or I’d never have found out about this fabulous initiative. X

  5. Nicole

Yes I have taken part in many blogfests on various themes and also helped to organize a few. Having blogged for several years, I am lucky to have made a select few friends. Participating in some blogfests have helped my blog in one way or another a lot more than certain other blogfests that I have participated in. Blogfests are a great way to gather people around central themes and/or interests.

    • Damyanti

Our gang is a chatty, supportive lot– it’s a nebulous, ever-expanding thing, but it is strong at its core. Welcome to the club!

  6. KasimsKorner

Sounds like an interesting idea, I’ll be sure to join. I’m a new young writer myself, who posts a lot of short stories on his blog. I would be glad to check out others work, and hope some people have the time to check out mine. I’ve followed, and will sign up now.

  7. Carol B Sessums

This sounds like fun. I’ll mark my calendar. Will also spread the word after joining in just a bit. Thanks for doing this. I’m sure it will be a good and interesting time. I look forward to reading everyone’s blogs and posts. Have a great 4th of July to everyone out there that celebrates. And if you don’t celebrate, have a great day doing whatever you do. xoxo

  8. Tamara Narayan

I love blogfests because having a linked list helps me visit a ton of blogs with ease, the same topic makes it interesting, and I get a lot more comments than when posting a regular blog. Heck, I hardly ever do regular blogs anymore. Blogfests are the way to go.

  9. Elissaveta

I just signed up! Loving the theme for July an will be back to blog about my cherished object. 🙂 can’t wait to read other entries too!

    • Damyanti

THankyou, and welcome! Look forward to your post, and in the meanwhile, please help spread the word on the #Cherished tag on all social media.

  10. Madilyn Quinn

This sounds like a neat/sweet idea! I’ve signed up for the blogfest! I’ve been blogging since March. Not long, but I have already made a few friends, which is nice! I’m in a few other bloghops (IWSG, QotM, FFF are my most consistent ones) but haven’t ever created one. Mostly because I don’t have the focus to do something like that! I’d feel inclined to visit every single blog, which with how my life is.. isn’t exactly possible. :/

  11. Barbara

Hi Damyanti, I have had a wordpress blog for a year but find I can’t think of anything to comment on!! I have just started writing short stories and I also paint and I have posted those on my blogsite. I know I should be blogging more but just stare at the screen.
i’d like to join your Cherished Blogfest but notice the Linky link doesn’t work on wordpress blogs. Do I have to do anything to join or just post a blog on the two days?
    Cheers Barbara

    • Damyanti

      Hi Barbara,
The link doesn’t open on wordpress, but in a new window. As long as you add your link to the linky list, and link to one of our announcement posts, you should be able to take part. Don’t forget to add our the #cherished badge to your sidebar.

Need any help, let me know.

  12. shanayatales

Hi Damyanti, This looks like a fab challenge. What a great way to meet new people and make friends. I am headed over to the linky to join. 🙂

I am joining! I love writing challenges and I feel they are such a nice way to meet new people and many more friends. Additionally learning new things about each other! 🙂

  15. Selah Janel

Love the idea of this! I’ve done blog hops, but this feels really unique and fun, more about community than a lot of other things I’ve participated in. I already know what I’m going to post about – looking forward to seeing everyone else’s posts, too!

    • Damyanti

Yay! Happy to have you, Selah. Yes, this is more about getting to know each other and a community feel. I think we get so busy following and being followed online that we forget to chat!

  16. Jahnavi Chintakunta

Reblogged this on Recharge your day and commented:
Looking for blog fest? Here is one. Check it out. The host of the blog, Damyanti is an expert blogger and her site has vast information for new bloggers. I have planned to join the event. I hope you too will.

    • Damyanti

Jahnavi, thanks for this wonderful shoutout! I hope more of us get together on these three days and celebrate each other. Please help spread the word on #Cherished on all social media.

  17. Jahnavi Chintakunta

Hi Damyanti, I always loved your blog for the vast amount of helpful information you have for new bloggers. I like your initiative of the blog fest. I have added my link for the fest. Now. I’ll share the information in my blog. Looking forward to the event!

  18. Nimi Arora

After months of hiatus from blogging, I visited Indiblogger and this is the first link I clicked on. Of course, I registered. Looking forward to the fest mood. I need it 🙂

  19. priyankamegor

I missed the dates and now I am lost. I am still willing to participate if that’s possible. Please guide me.

Also, I am new at writing and I would love all sorts of feedback.
    Thank you.

    • Damyanti

Thanks, Lata, and very welcome! This will be a sort of weekend challenge– and you can keep visiting everyone for the week after!

    • Damyanti

The feeling is mutual! Thanks for the vote of confidence :)– so happy to have you. Please tell your friends about this, so we can all catch up over these three days in July!

    • Damyanti

Excellent, Dharmesh, welcome! Please help spread the word by grabbing the badge for your sidebar, posting about this blogfest, and sharing on all social media with the tag #Cherished

  20. Shailaja/ The Moving Quill

THis is a wonderful idea, Damyanti! I am game. Already shared on Twitter. Will share it on Facebook and G+ closer to the dates, so more people can sign up. Such a lovely gesture and I already am planning my blog post now <3

    • Damyanti

it’s an online event: we all post about the same topic on the same day, and visit each other. This helps us make new connections and cement old ones.

  21. violafury

D! I just joined! I am so thrilled about this project and have some wonderful, long-term online friends. I’m really glad you are doing this. I think online friends are every bit as real and the friendships are every bit as meaningful as supposed “irl” ones. I’ve met several of my online friends and we always know each other even if we haven’t seen one another before. This is a wonderful thing! Oh, and yes, I signed up!

  22. Sammy D.

Daily Write …. Hmmmm … That’s Damyanti, right? That’s not Damyanti’s picture, is it? Oh my gosh! Damyanti has a new picture! Look how cute she is!

OH MY GOSH – a Cherished Blogfest and it’s hosted by WordPressers! Not just WordPressers, but some of my FAVORITE WordPressers.

Oh my gosh! i wish I wasn’t 64 with cranky hips and knees and could still turn a cartwheel 😀👏😘💖💖💖

    • Damyanti

Aww…. Sammy– you’re too sweet! Thanks for all the compliments, and am over the moon to have you join us– would have contacted you first thing if you hadn’t signed up :)!

      • Sammy D.

Awww, thank you for thinking of me, Damyanti. I’m so tickled that you and Dan are part of this, and I look forward to getting acquainted with your co-hosts. I keep lingering on the Linky List wanting to click those I don’t know, then my thoughts turn to WHICH favorite object … Such fun to have this to look forward to.

I told Dan I’d reblog his announcement this Sunday so any of my readers who don’t follow him will see it.

        • Damyanti

You’re awesome. I still don’t know what object yet and my brain is scattered in a thousand different directions, but am looking forward to it.

  23. Russell J. Fellows

Keep hearing that I need to mingle a bit more, so why not? I’ll go ahead and sign up for this. Seems like it’ll be a good way to get to know some more bloggers a bit better. I’ve been at this for about five months or so, and I’ve not done a blogfest before. I look forward to learning some things from everyone.

  24. shreya24x7
