Today’s prompt (the beginning of the story in bold) came from Nicole and the picture prompt was sent in by the Ninja Captain himself—very sci-fi, right up his alley! I chose them together because the scene looks like fight-or-flight—and principles are great things to fight for.

Alex, if you’re reading this, I meant it only as a bit of harmless fun. I haven’t read much science fiction, or Cassafire, so this is just random silliness in playing with the names of Tgren and Cassa that I hope you’ll forgive in your usual hearty way.
If not, let me know and I shall duck for cover 🙂
I've read it, but do not know what to say. I'll come back and comment later.

I knew the "Cassa" in this story sounded familiar but couldn't figure out why at the moment until I finished reading it and aha! Alex's novel! Thanks for using my prompt 🙂
I tried to comment on this post yesterday but the browser on the computer I was using was acting up. Just a quick note: my Blogger profile is private. Could you update that link to reflect my blog address instead?
Cheers and Happy Wednesday!

So full of action and description! But now I want the rest of the story…to be continued? Will they work together or be sworn enemies or fall in love?
Wow! This is great. It so makes me want to read more. 🙂
I love how you show the action all the while allowing us to get to know the characters at the same time.
Also, I love the picture at the top of your blog. I used to eat gooseberries a long long time ago when I was a child. I loved them.
I think everybody else has said what I wanted to say D but really awesome possum – sci-fi book next?
This is great! I love the story and want to know more.
Thanks for the lovely comments everyone. Visiting each one of you back as we speak 🙂
I'm still struggling with D, so I'll need your blessings.
Oh do continue. I am really curious.
Excellent! What a great lead-in. You've managed to set a whole string of things off and running, and still grounded in the eternal triangle.
Leaving this reader wanting more.
Nicely done 🙂 I think this counts as Alex now having a "Cassa – Expanded Universe" too 🙂
What an interesting way to do your A-Z challlenge ! Look forward to readin g all your entries !
Good stuff! Love the build up of tension and that ominous ending–"But only for now."
Very nicely done. And it is very nice to meet you!

I like how you work with the prompt! Nice writing! 🙂
very interesting and clever!
I just signed on to the A-Z challenge, nearly at the last minute, but I'm trying to visit every blog at least once.
Nice! For a trial run with sci-fi, you've done well. Haven't read much in the genre for a really long time, but seriously this was not bad at all. Good job! 🙂
well done
Karen
Very cool post! 🙂 I like that little peace of flash fiction!
Such a fun story and I loved how you borrowed the world Alex created. 🙂
Another great one! Love it.
Nice! I love the way you toss in details, like using the phrase "the classic cuckold" to describe him.
Good work.
I won't claim to no Alex beyond his love of Hot Tamales, but I'd think he's get a giggle out of this.
Nice job and quite the conflict there with he, she and he, possible betrayal of some kind happening.
Oooh, lots of good conflict here.
Having to work together for a larger purpose, nice.
This was AMAZING! Loved it!
I love your story! And that's a great prompt.
The Golden Eagle
The Eagle's Aerial Perspective
I'm sure Alex was amused.
An engaging and intriguing post ! There's this moral & personal conflict that's bursting to come out 🙂

I would think that your friend might appreciate that you did this.
I've been keeping up on a zombie apocalypse series(I usually read things that are more beautiful) and it's hooked me. I love the 'soap opera' within the zombie madness.
Great job! You're such a talented writer, even when you say you're having fun, the reader enjoys well-crafted writing.
I love these little ficlets. Thanks for coming to my blog.
Very nicely done! Looking forward to tomorrow!

A riveting scene. So much going on and I definitely want to read on…

I love classic sci-fi! I hope you write more of it!
This was so much fun to read. I couldn't help but want to read more when it was finished. Hmm. . .Cassafire? I might have to look that up.

Damy, I love it! That is perfect. Thanks for using the image. It's the one that sparked the idea for my book.
I love how you pack so much story into so few lines. I especially appreciate the internal conflict, and the promise of trouble down the road. Your last line is an awesome ender. Nicely done!

I am not much of a sci-fi person either, but loved reading it.: )
Tempting, teasing snippet – very well done.
I like your writing style–put me into the thick of things. Is there more? Would love to read!

Thanks for stopping by this morning 🙂
Very nice, Damyanti! You have that gift of creating human conflict with very few words (and, apparently, any scenario!) and bringing it home to the reader in the clearest and most poignant of ways. I love your writing 🙂
This is great!
Very cool… nicely done!
