I think she was flown to the UK for treatment. I hope she stays there. She deserves a chance at a good education.

Its amazing she didn't die. The angels were definitely with her.

    • Damyanti says:

The Angels have sent her down for a higher purpose, and I don't think she's going anywhere till she has fulfilled it.

  • This is so sad. But I salute her kind and join you in prayer for her speedy recovery 😀

  • Wow, what an amazing, brave young woman. Really hope she's protected and taken care of. Reminds me I can't ever take education and the freedom to read and write and learn for granted. Hoping she recovers.

    • Damyanti says:

Yes, kids like her remind the world that there are still places where asking for basic human rights can get you shot. I hope she recovers well, and soon.

  • So sad – I hope she didn't die in vain. So many girls and women are terrified into ignorance over there.

  • Well…and they've said openly that they are going to kill her and her father too if she recovers. So this woman needs to get out of this country FAST.

    • Damyanti says:

From what I can see, she's in a military hospital — and with the history of militants in the country, anything is possible. Many of her countryfolk have come forward with offers for bearing the expenses to get her out of the country.

This little girl is braver than many adults I know. And because she was not killed, thank God, she will be a symbol and perhaps many will be given that extra ounce of courage to stand up against the dark forces in Pakistan.

Being a child, her struggle is the struggle for humanity. If our children are targeted, who in the world is safe?

Roland mentioned this on his blog yesterday as well (Writing in the Crosshairs). It saddens me that women still have to suffer such treatment from their own cultures. I applaud that child, who's is smarter than her years.
