Have You had a Book Sneak up on You?

Now that would be a strange things for a book to do, but my book did just that.

I planned it for about 5 months. Been writing it for the last 10 months or so. And now, all of a sudden it is 74, 000 words, and I’m working on the 29th chapter.

I’d gotten so used to this lifestyle: wake up, tea, chores, writing (or tear my hair, depending), tea, chores, blogging, writing, Twitter/Facebook, crying (or smiling, depending), and off to bed.

I have about 4 more chapters to go, and unless the book is capable of not only sneaking up but also biting me in the ass, I should be done by March.

What will I do with myself afterward? (Editing, of course, but I don’t want to think about that. Yet. That means I’ll have a completed draft. Say what??)

Is this how writing a first novel feels like?

    Sometimes, when you're focused on writing a little bit every day, you don't realise how much you've really accomplished! Best of luck on finishing your book. And although I've written three, I'm yet to get to the point of having one "finished" (is it ever?!) So I'm there with you!

    Congrats! I hope I'll join you soon in the wonderful process of actually FINISHING a book! It took me a while, but I think I'm on the right track now.

    I alos have a question for you. Before returning to prose I've been collecting about 600 haiku poems and 200 other poems. Do you think it would help to have some of these published before I finish my book? Because I stii have some work to do on the book but the poems are ready, arranged, edited, proofed, they only lack covers and formatting.
