I’ve signed up for 100 Words On Saturday. Introduced in February 2013 – by Corinne Rodrigues, it an invitation, a prompt, a linky. We are to write exactly a 100 words on the prompt and publish it on our blogs – a story, a poem, a mini-essay. 100 Words on Saturday will be up 2nd and 4th Saturday each month.
Prompt: Beautiful Eyes.
Is it soft to the touch, or perhaps with a pattern that the fingers can predict even as they move over it, or so smooth and hard that the fingers glide over it in admiration, or does it make a sound, a tune, music to charm the spirit, or perhaps you could tell me what it smells like? Like toasted caramel, or rosebuds crushed under the passion of lovers, or incense wafting at church? What is beautiful? My eyes, when I touch them, are quite like yours when I touch you, and yet you tell me I have beautiful eyes.
This may be a silly question, but is there actually a signup for “100 Words on Saturday”? I’m totally into it.
I need to hop on into one of these… Very
Beautiful lines
Very expressive 😀
Beautifully expressed!! 🙂
Eyes are the most beautiful things… without eyes the definition of beauty does not have any meaning. Nice one.
Beauty is what beauty does. I know there are eyes which could speak volumes.
Clever take ! liked 🙂
Hello Damyanti,
This is a clever approach to the prompt. The questions asked were and comparison used were effective and of a novel sort.
Thanks for visiting and commenting on a blog of mine–I really appreciate it. I like your blog and will be reading the articles here 🙂
eyes without them… loved every bit of the read !!
100 words quite a challenge .. Keep it Up !
Brief comment 😀
Nice post 🙂
Feeling. Lovely. 🙂
Thanks.
Heh…”all the *more* poignant.” I hate not being able to edit. 😀
You were questioning and describing at the same time, and it works very well. The last line all the poignant as a result, “And yet you tell me I have beautiful eyes.”
Nice exploration and…well, I guess in this case “sensualization?” Not exactly a *visual* description, but just as, maybe even more, effective in the context.
Thanks, questioning while describing was the whole idea. Glad it came across for you.
Hi, I’ve nominated you for The Liebster Award 🙂
Challenges seem to feed your creativity. This is really beautiful.
Renee, thanks for your kind words, and for taking the time to comment.
Lovely piece, Always fun to hear about different challenges so thanks for sharing, and for the follow. Great blog!
Thanks, Jackie.
I like your use of questions to develop the ideas in this piece. Very cool.
Thanks, Karelia, and welcome to my blog 🙂
Eyes are the representation of ‘Simplicity out of the inordinate complexity’,you beautified then with just 100 words…gr8..
I don’t know if I beautified them, but I definitely tried to explore their beauty.
I love the angle you took to get to the eyes. Rather than simply describing a beautiful eye.
I just wondered how a blind person would react when told they have beautiful eyes.
Beautiful. Eyes have always been a powerful symbol in literature. The windows of our souls etc. 🙂
Like I said above, what if those windows led to nothing?
Heartbreak? Disenchantment? Who knows 🙂
Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, they say.
I keep wondering what happens if the beholder is blind, which is what I’ve explored in this piece.
