I’ve been reading a lot these past few weeks (even more than usual, and here’s why) so perhaps I should start seriously following some bookish memes in order to share some of them with you.
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Here are two teaser sentences from Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn:
“I feel myself trying to be charming, and then I realize I’m obviously trying to be charming, and then I try to be even more charming to make up for the fake charm, and then I’ve basically turned into Liza Minnelli: I’m dancing in tights and sequins, begging you to love me. There’s a bowler and jazz hands and lots of teeth.”
I didn’t love the book overmuch, but when it comes to voices, this book can teach you a thing or two if you’re a writer. As a reader, I found it kept me hooked, but didn’t creep me out cos of its predictability. Or maybe I’m just too jaded a reader. Pick it up, if you like, and come to your own conclusions.
I loved “Gone Girl!” One of my faves 😉 Here’s my review if you’re interested:

I’m going to work on this next week as well. Great idea!
I have a terrible habit of reading the plot synopsis of a popular book before even attempting to read it. I’m with you; Gone Girl seems a bit predictable but within the context, it’s probably great. It’s on my To Read list but it’s not really my kind of book so I may not get to it for some time.
Ooops! I need to be more careful when I cut and paste! Here’s the link to my Teaser: My Teaser is from THE LIGHT BETWEEN OCEANS.
(I hope you enjoy the story about goats in Seattle that I linked to in my previous comment!)
Hmmm. This book has been on the NYT bestseller list for quite a while, but I’m still undecided about buying it. Maybe I’ll wait until it’s available at my library.

I had started reading this book, but somehow left it after some 50-100 pages. But after reading your review I guess I would start is over.
Great line! I’ve never picked up this book – it seems like people either really loved it or really didn’t enjoy it at all. Might be an interesting summer read… 🙂
Great excerpt! I actually loved the book….thanks for sharing, and here’s MY TUESDAY MEMES POST
It really is a good idea
What a cool idea! What do you do with an audio book though…?
Hi. Thanks for liking my post. I’m gonna blogwalk here sometime.
I love this idea. I think I’m going to participate too.
What a cool idea!
