Before the A to Z Challenge, I had heard of a spate of blogfests, and I’m sure they continue in some parts of the blogiverse. I’m back to browsing blogs after my hiatus in May, and groggy state in June, but I don’t see sign-up linky lists on blogs.
So, does any of you know any blogfests I could sign up for? I like the camaraderie of them, and especially love fiction-writing blogfests– it gives me a challenge to warm up for the day’s writing, while also writing a blog post.
Do you like taking part in blogfests? Have you signed up for something that you would recommend to me?
I miss them. Before A to Z I participated in just about all of them. Now, I either don't catch them or there aren't as many.
Oops, blogfests, blog hops, blog parties, alphabet challenges and reflection posts about reflection posts! One moment, please….Arggghhhh!!!
Sorry about that, Damyanti. However, I feel better now 🙂
I have done a number of posts satirising such things. Ironically, I think some of my ideas for blogfests might end up being used. Now then, without blatant self-promoting, would I do that, here is a link to maybe help you out. Our buddy, Arlee Bird, was contemplating some of my ideas.

In answer to your question, I have no idea what's out there. I rather enjoy you just doing your own writing without being involved in a blogfest. However, I wish you and all well in participating in such things.
Hope is all well with you, dear friend.
In kindness,
Gary
I'll do easy ones. There haven't been any lately though.
Not that I know of and my schedule doesn't permit me. I write twice a week and on one post I have disabled comments for lack of time.
For my first six years of blogging, I did NO blogfests. I now only do a few…maybe three a year.
I love blogfests, only we don't get to participate very often because we are booked so far in advance. I love watching what happens at the blogs I follow though!
I just joined ROW80, which is Round of Words in Eighty Days, but it's more of a support group. The link is on my blog, "I had a little nut-tree…"

Hi just stopped by to say hi, but no, I'm not a big fan of blogfests. Good luck to you!
I was just thinking that same thing. I haven't seen a blogfest in a while… Maybe I should have one.
Some blogfests are great, but some aren't. I think it depends on the goal. That said, I enjoy them so I'm going to start tracking them closer.
Maurice, I'm all for fiction blogfests, others, not so much.
I have to say I'm beginning to tire of blogfests. While I've met some really cool people through them, I'm also inundated with folks who just seem to want to rack up their follower numbers. Also, during the last A to Z I attracted a ton of spammers and had to disable anonymous comments to get rid of them
Sorry to hear that. The best idea might be to disable anonymous comments. I had moderated my comments for a while in between when hit by spam.
I'm participating in the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge that April from Good Books and Good Wine put together. It just started: http://goodbooksandgoodwine.com/2013/07/15-day-book-blogging-challenge-lets-get-it-started.html
That sounds like fun! I like books, and wine.
I think the aftermath of AtoZ combined with folks taking a break for summer is the reason. They'll probably start up again in the fall when the kids are back in school. 🙂
I guess you're right, Melissa.
There were so many earlier this year, I'm rather burned out. I'm in a few monthly ones – IWSG and the Indie Life [which is this Wednesday]. And celebrate the Small Things is every Friday.
I like Celebrate the small things– only it gets too confessional, and I'm kind of squeamish about that.
There seemed to have been a lot of them earlier in the year.
I'm taking part in Paula's July Blog Challenge. It runs for the month of July. Hop on over to my blog to see what its all about.
Will check it out right now.
Blogfests/blog hops do appear to be on the decline. But I admit I'm not as active with blogfests as I used to be. I'm currently participating in an author blog hop but I'm not sure of another one I could recommend. I am a Reader, Not a Writer tends to have some fests/hops she does.
Angela thanks for the suggestion..I like the occasional blog hop, but am not so avid, either.
I'll be joining with a couple of people to do a bloghop for writers at the end of August. The announcement should be coming up in the next couple of weeks at http://www.scotzig.com
Will look out for it.
I think most are waiting until the fall, when everyone comes back from summer break.
However, a group of us are announcing a blogfest next Monday!
Tell us more!
I kind of staying away from blogfests lately. Too busy trying to keep up.
Hugs and chocolate,
Shelly
Well, I haven't taken part in one for a long time, either!
Haha, there was a time when it seemed all I was posting was bloghop stuff! Maybe there's a summer slump while everyone enjoys the sunshine!
I think it is the summer, too.
There's the six-word story challenge:
http://drieskewrites.wordpress.com/category/six-word-stories/
I'll be running it at http://MarianAllen.com while Marion Driessen is on vacation. It's an every-Wednesday thing.
And I went out into the Goolesphere and found you this blog hop directory:

Have fun! 🙂
Thanks for the links, Marian, will check them out.
