100 Words on Saturday

I’ve signed up for 100 Words On SaturdayIntroduced in February 2013 – by Corinne Rodrigues, it an invitation, a prompt, a linky. We are to write exactly a 100 words on the prompt and publish it on our blogs – a story, a poem, a mini-essay. 100 Words on Saturday will be up  2nd and 4th Saturday each month.

Prompt: The Shadow of Your Smile : My 100- word fiction attempt:

The Shadow of your Smile

The Shadow of your Smile

This is no time to come unstuck, not when you’re smiling at me, when your body perfumes this summer breeze, that essence of your skin that lulls me to sleep each night as I bury my nose in the crook of your neck. Not when your fingers twine with mine as we kiss, tasting of ripe apricots you baked in honey and cumin; when the grass tickles your feet just as it does mine as we walk, holding fast, each to the other. Not when I know that come autumn, I’ll be left with just the shadow of your smile.
