#atozchallenge : Z is for Zeitgist #fiction #writing #quotes

Theme:  Quotes from Authors and Bookish People about Writing

And so the A to Z Challenge comes to an end. It has been a great adventure, and has left me completely exhausted. But it has been great to get in touch with old friends and make new ones!

It has also been a special privilege to work with the amazing, incredible ladies of #teamdamyanti Guilie, Anna, Samantha, Csenge, Vidya, Jemima and Mary! The A to Z team has done it again, and my special thanks go out to co-hosts Lee, Alex, Tina, Jeremy, Nicole, Stephen, Heather, AJ, MJ and Pam for letting me work with them, and be part of an exceptional bunch of bloggers on a great adventure together.

So, I leave you with this last AZ post today. The Reflections Post Linky list will be up and running on May 5th on the A to Z Challenge blog.
Write your post talking about your AZ experience this year, and enter
your post link on the list. Your feedback will help us improve the next
challenge!

This last day of the challenge, we discuss the importance of books and authors as chroniclers of our times, the ones who choose not to walk on the fence, those who set the Zeitgeist

The Zeitgeist (spirit of the age or spirit of the time)
is the intellectual fashion or dominant school of thought that typifies
and influences the culture of a particular period in time. ~Wikipedia

Here’s are a few bookish people on books and zeitgeist:

Damyanti Biswas

Damyanti Biswas is the author of You Beneath Your Skin and numerous short stories that have been published in magazines and anthologies in the US, the UK, and Asia. She has been shortlisted for Best Small Fictions and Bath Novel Awards and is co-editor of the Forge Literary Magazine. Her literary crime thriller series, the Blue Mumbai, is represented by Lucienne Diver from The Knight Agency. Both The Blue Bar and The Blue Monsoon were published in 2023.

Thanks and Congrats to all who worked on and finished the challenge. I enjoyed it more this year then last; but not because it was really any different in structure. I'm not aware of any changes made from last year to this year; but do have several I hope will take place next year and will soon be writing and scheduling my reflections post.

I'm continuing the a-z throughout the month of May…hoping it will keep me going, lol.

Damyanti, what a wonderful way to end this A-Z. Thank you for the inspiring quotes. I wish you well on your journey of writing. And so much thanks for all that you and the team have achieved. Your ongoing encouragement, understanding of the angst most of us go through … and much more besides.

    Hey Damyanti,

I'm exhausted and very relieved that the A to Z is over. Thank you for reaching the end letter 🙂 I beg you, don't let this thing drag on with all those reflection posts.

Anybody who writes is a writer.

I do not sit on the fence. I'm on both sides of the fence and I shall continue to be a rebel.

Well done on getting to Zee end game, my dear friend.

    In kindness and goodwill,

    Gary

The spirit of our age? Alienation. Polarization. Lack of compassion. I don't mean to be a buzz kill as we celebrate the A to Z finale, but that's what I hear and that's what I see. Technology has robbed so many people of the tribal nature of families and the spirit of togetherness.

Lovely posts on writing. I enjoyed reading them as an amateur writer, they were inspirational. Congrats!
Thanks for visiting my blog and reading some of the stories. I would appreciate it if you would take a few moments to vote for your favorite ones.

I think division and stress mark our time and a lack of respect for humans as humans. Congrats on reaching Z.

And Camus has hit the old nail on the head.

    Happy Z Day to you.

  • I can't believe the challenge has ended, but it was worth the stress. These quotes are a wonderful ending to the theme. They are meaningful ones that I totally agree with.

  • Whew, We did it. Another successful A to Z! Congrats!

Chaos and Uncertainty for so many is my answer to your question. This is reflected in our movies, TV and books. And those of us who live in Freedom are so lucky, we can blog, we can write without being censored, we can live our lives in relative calm and we can appreciate your beautiful cat!

  • Hi Damyanti – unfortunately we seem to live in times where there is a lot of social unrest throughout the world and the future is unpredictable. Yes, sometimes it is reflected in my writing, but I also try to keep a positive outlook.

The A-Z has certainly been exhausting, but also exciting to have met more bloggers. Thank you for co-hosting, and I'll be pleased to visit you again.

You couldn't have finished with a better picture (for this confirmed cat lady), nor a better word. It was a long month-yet it seems too short. I trust we are not going to lose touch with our new friends from the Challenge. I really enjoyed it.
