December Hiatus: Back in January 2022

What have been your best reads in 2021? What are your plans for the holidays and the New Year? Do you ever take complete breaks from social media?

Each year for the past few years, I’ve been taking a December blogging hiatus. This year I’m making it a social media hiatus as well. Complete electronic silence: other than interactions involved in active writing, because  I’m hoping to write a draft of the sequel to The Blue Bar.

Research has begun. Outlining begins in earnest tomorrow. My mental health needs the silence, as does my creative self–a brief respite from the frenzy of social media. More walks, less screen time. More time with family, less spent online. More time reading, less worrying about not reading enough. And hopefully, a draft as close to the finish line as possible.

I’ll be back to online life on the 16th of January.

Here’s wishing you all Happy Holidays, and hopefully a much better year in 2022.

Looking forward to seeing you back in 2022! Have a great hiatus!

  • Wow, that’s pretty cool that you do an entire month of radio silence. I should try that too. Have seen you around in the Malaysia Writer’s FB group, and am always glad to stumble across your blog here on WP πŸ™‚ All the best for this month!

I take small pauses from the Internet. (Some this month as a result of my ISP acting up.)
    Hope your writing goes well!

I’m enjoying #WRiTECLUB2021 over at DL Hammons blog. The entries are fun to read and vote on with feedback.
Plus, I’m currently reading Patricia Lynne’s Being Human.
And I’m scheduling debut author interviews at Operation Awesome.
I hope you have some fun plans for the rest of 2021. πŸŽ„πŸŽ†β›ΈπŸ₯βœ‰πŸ₯‚β›„ May your days ahead be merry and filled with positive experiences.

Thank you for sharing!!… sometimes one has to stop the world and get off for a time… I do not spend a great deal of time dealing with technology and I do not have social media (though I do have Twitter should I need it)…. πŸ™‚
Hope you have a wonderful holiday and well deserved time for yourself, enjoy every minute of it and hope each and every day is filled with love and happiness!!… πŸ™‚

    Until we meet again…
May the love that you give
    Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
    And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
    No suffering or strife,
May your spirit only know love and happiness
    On your journey through life.

    Enjoy your time away!

  • A really good idea to take time and recharge. Happy New Year!

  • Unless we take breaks, we have breakdowns! As Alex said, may you get a lot of what you need done accomplished. Fields which yield crops need to lay fallow for a season … and if even dirt needs a break, how much more do our minds! πŸ™‚

  • Enjoy your break. I hope it is relaxing, restorative and productive.

  • vishnupria says:

It looks fun and rejuvenation. Have a great solitude time away from constant dancing of the world.
