A to Z stories of Life and Death

A to Z stories of Life and Death

So, here’s the book cover, designed by the super-talented Marcel Heijnen at The image is by Jake Garn Photography .

The book should be out on all sorts of e-book retail outlets in the next few weeks, and then the great e-book experiment will begin in earnest. With this e-book, I don’t mean to thumb nose at traditional book publishers–quite the opposite.

I seek to learn the ropes of the fluid publishing market. I’ve been traditionally published, and hope to be considered for publication again. But in the meanwhile, I mean to explore the burgeoning new avenues of publishing.

The idea of the book was suggested by the kind and generous readers of my posts during the A to Z challenge, and to them, and all others who have supported me since, I owe a million thanks.

To those who helped bring about this book, and you know who you are, I cannot hope to ever repay the favor, but please know that I’m immensely grateful.

I’m visiting your blog for first time, and I’m very impressed with your profile and work.

Congratulations on your A to Z e-book. I learned about it through Lee Bird given that I have published my A to Z posts as well.

Looking forward to following your blog.

    • Damyanti says:

  • I think the design is pretty amazingly awesome. I bet the contents within are just as good, too!

Thanks, Bryce. I’ll really need to help to get the word out, because I’m a novice at that. I’m just lucky to have wise and clued-in friends 🙂

    Hi Damayanti,
Congratulations. The cover looks great. It is really good that you are experimenting with modern avenues of publishing like ebooks which I think will take over from print one day and hopefully be a boon to authors.
Do share your experiences with us, especially marketing experiences, on your blog.
Also, do let us know when the book is out so we can spread the word here. I trust it will be available on Flipkart.
    All the Best

    • Thanks, Vikram. This will be an e-book, so not sure I can make it available on Flipkart :). I’ll make sure I make PDF versions available for download, however. Have to figure out how!

I’m not a marketing whiz, so that will be hit-and-miss. This book is going to be a huge learning curve for me in terms of e-book publishing….which, as you rightly said, is going to play a part in the future of books.

  • anna says:

Waiting for it to come out =)

Your humility will keep you working hard, and your talent will ensure the results you seek. This book is proof of that. I am, at once, very proud of you for what you’ve accomplished, and grateful for the ways in which you inspire all of us to accomplish, too.

    • Damyanti says:

Charles, I’ve good reasons to be humble. When I read the writing of some of the folks I know, and you, I realise how much further I have to go. I’ve recommended your blog to more people than I can remember.

I’m not sure this book will be an accomplishment, but I’m hoping it will teach me a few things. Writers these days have to hawk their wares, and I suck at that.

  • mish says:

Congratulations Damyanti ! The cover is gorgeous ! I look forward to reading your stories …

  • That’s a cool cover! Let us know when it’s available.

    • Damyanti says:

Thanks, Alex. Both the designer and the photographer were amazing. Will be working on getting the book out this month.

  • The cover looks good. I’m looking forward to the book. You can count on me to help spread the word.

    • Damyanti says:

Thanks…I’ll need my friends to teach me marketing, because this e-book is all about learning from my betters! Thanks for the offer to spread the word…I welcome any advice and suggestions you may have for me 🙂

  • DarcKnyt says:

Wow, that looks GREAT Damyanti! BEAUTIFUL cover! I’ll have to visit the link and see what they’re doing over there!

Good luck! I hope you sell MILLIONS of copies! 🙂

  • First: LOVE the cover!!! I’ve shared all this already. Will have the interview questions to you by this weekend.

  • The great thing about ebooks is that they can instantly reach right around the world minus postage and packing. This, together with no print costs, makes them far cheaper, which is especially good for those with lower incomes. I am considering investing in an IPad to help reading easier so eBooks get the thumbs up for me. (My own books are selling better as eBooks too.) Of course I would not like to see the demise of printed books — they are such a joy to hold, read and place on one’s bookshelves.

    • Damyanti says:

Gladys, I want to figure out what e-book publishing is all about, and hence the experiment! WIsh me luck 🙂

  • Arlee Bird says:

I’m sure you know that I’m cheering you on with this. Congratulations on this great achievement and please keep us posted as to how it all goes.

    Tossing It Out

    • Damyanti says:

Thanks, Lee, you were the first to see the cover besides family :). This is more or less an experiment in e-books, and since I’m not the best of self-promoters, it will need all your help:)
