Blogging is all about making connections, sharing information, emotions, opinions, memories. One of the best Blogging advice I have for new bloggers is to participate in Blogfests: choose something easy, and make new friends!
In the spirit of blog friendships, my good blog friends, Dan Antion , Paul Ruddock, Peter Nena, Sharukh Bamboat and yours truly at Daily (w)rite, invite you to take part in the CHERISHED Blogfest:
Often, objects lead us to memories.
The objects we hold most dear, harbor the most cherished memories.
For the CHERISHED Blogfest, we invite you to talk to us about one of your cherished objects. Tell us what it is, post a picture of it if you like, and tell us why you cherish it.
Keep your post to below 500 words.
Join us on the 24th to 26th of July 2015 in sharing memories, emotions, information: we’ll read and comment on each others’ posts, get to know each other better, and hopefully, make or renew some friendships.
For those with new blogs, adding your blog to the linky list below, and posting on the 24th-26th July would help you increase your comment love, and followers. Visit and leave comments to everyone on the list, so we all get loads of comment love!
Place the CHERISHED Badge on your sidebar, and help us spread the word on social media. Tweets, Facebook shares, G+ shares through the month most welcome. More Blogfest signups mean more friends and followers at the end of the blogfest.
Sign up in the CHERISHED Linky List below which would open in a new window for signups. (WordPress blogs don’t allow linky lists.)
Powered by Linky Tools
CHERISHED LINKY LIST: CLICK HERE to enter your link and view this Linky Tools list…
If you have any queries, drop me a mail at meringue dot p at gmail dot com.
The name ‘Cherished’ and the image is courtesy Cheryl KP, who posts brilliant images and writing on her blog. I would also encourage you to check out the blogs of my cohosts: Dan Antion (the designer of the badge), Paul Ruddock, Peter Nena, Sharukh Bamboat, bloggers with genuine and fascinating takes on everything from life, travel, fiction, and the writing rigmarole.
Paul and Peter are short story writers and novelists, whereas Dan and Sharukh are excellent non-fiction writers. Follow them right away if you haven’t already!
How long have you been blogging? Have you taken part in any blogfests? Organised them? If yes, have blogfests helped your blog? Do you have many blog friends? Do you share stories with them? Are you signing up for the CHERISHED Blogfest?
If you’re reading this, but don’t have a blog, head over to the discussion on Daily (w)rite’s Facebook Page, where we’re talking about online friendships.
EDIT: We’ve changed the dates to 24th-26th July– I was scatterbrained and didn’t notice 25th/26th was a weekend. My apologies.
This is an awesome engaging content. Great share.
Oh I missed it!
Oh, I really, really wanted to participate, but life has been crazy lately, and I forgot all about it. I hope it was a success.
This is such a great initiative. It is amazing being part of such a big community, and meeting new people from all over the world.
Great idea here, Damyaniti! My only regret is that there’s not enough time to get to everyone on the list. I’ve been checking out other blogger’s posts, but then I get lost in their blogs and hours have gone by! Also, I’m somewhat technologically challenged as I can’t figure out how to get the cherished list on my blog (although I did ask my daughter to put the logo up for me), so there’s that. Maybe by next fest I’ll have figured that piece out. Love your blog, and your enthusiasm. Thanks for sharing.
Sorry I am being late for Day One.
Blogfest Post up! Day One: most beloved object!
so glad i found this hop – it sounds like a great way to connect with new bloggers i haven’t met yet!

I thought I should try to get out more 😉 This looks like fun.
Reblogging at https://lcwallingham.wordpress.com, thanks!
Hey – I’m in too. So let me clarify! Post the badge on our blogs, visit your cohosts, wait till till the dates to put up the Cherished blog post on our blogs and the linky will only be available from the 24th of July onwards, when we will proceed to comment in a flurry of words? Have I missed anything?
The Linky is available right now, just click on the link in the post above, where you clicked to sign up.
The flurry of comments happens on the 3 days of the blogfest 🙂
This is such a good idea, thank you for sharing the link on Twitter too.
I’ve never heard of a Blog fest before so I’ll certainly join in. As my website and blog is all about the Greek island of Crete I’ll make my contribution fit the theme. Thank you for liking a post on my blog or I’d never have found out about this fabulous initiative. X
Sweet, gonna try this out!
Yes I have taken part in many blogfests on various themes and also helped to organize a few. Having blogged for several years, I am lucky to have made a select few friends. Participating in some blogfests have helped my blog in one way or another a lot more than certain other blogfests that I have participated in. Blogfests are a great way to gather people around central themes and/or interests.
Hey Nicole, good to see you here. You’re definitely an old and very deft hand at blogfests!

I have a fairly new blog so this sounds great. Plus your “gang” sounds interesting!
Our gang is a chatty, supportive lot– it’s a nebulous, ever-expanding thing, but it is strong at its core. Welcome to the club!

I would like to start blogging but need some direction on how to get started. Thank you

Sounds like an interesting idea, I’ll be sure to join. I’m a new young writer myself, who posts a lot of short stories on his blog. I would be glad to check out others work, and hope some people have the time to check out mine. I’ve followed, and will sign up now.
This sounds like fun! I signed up, and look forward to seeing what comes of it.
Welcome! Please help spread the word, by spreading the word on social media, and your blog!
I just signed up for the Blogfest!

Thanks for the reblog! I hope more and more bloggers join this blogfest.
You’re most welcome! 🙂
grand idea; I’ll pop it in the diary.
This sounds like fun. I’ll mark my calendar. Will also spread the word after joining in just a bit. Thanks for doing this. I’m sure it will be a good and interesting time. I look forward to reading everyone’s blogs and posts. Have a great 4th of July to everyone out there that celebrates. And if you don’t celebrate, have a great day doing whatever you do. xoxo
Thanks! Look forward to reading your posts, too. Please tag all your blogfest posts on social media with the #cherished tag!
I love blogfests because having a linked list helps me visit a ton of blogs with ease, the same topic makes it interesting, and I get a lot more comments than when posting a regular blog. Heck, I hardly ever do regular blogs anymore. Blogfests are the way to go.
I just signed up! Loving the theme for July an will be back to blog about my cherished object. 🙂 can’t wait to read other entries too!
THankyou, and welcome! Look forward to your post, and in the meanwhile, please help spread the word on the #Cherished tag on all social media.
I love this idea and I’m definitely joining in 🙂
Welcome, and hope you would have fun!
I love this blog fest idea, but I can’t join in on it – I’ll be taking a blogging break due to some busy family stuff. But I hope it goes great!
Thanks, Tyrean– sorry you can’t join, but there shall be more. Hope you can help us spread the word on social media!
This sounds like a neat/sweet idea! I’ve signed up for the blogfest! I’ve been blogging since March. Not long, but I have already made a few friends, which is nice! I’m in a few other bloghops (IWSG, QotM, FFF are my most consistent ones) but haven’t ever created one. Mostly because I don’t have the focus to do something like that! I’d feel inclined to visit every single blog, which with how my life is.. isn’t exactly possible. :/
Looks like you’re on the right path– all those groups you mention are awesome! Welcome to the blogfest 🙂
Awesome, thanks for hosting this D! I’ll surely join in 🙂
Welcome, Archana! Pls help us spread the word on social media!
This is a lovely idea for a blogfest. I’m in! Thanks for hosting it, Damyanti. 🙂
You’re welcome, Debbie! So happy to have you :). Pls help us spread the word on social media!
Hi Damyanti, I have had a wordpress blog for a year but find I can’t think of anything to comment on!! I have just started writing short stories and I also paint and I have posted those on my blogsite. I know I should be blogging more but just stare at the screen.
i’d like to join your Cherished Blogfest but notice the Linky link doesn’t work on wordpress blogs. Do I have to do anything to join or just post a blog on the two days?
The link doesn’t open on wordpress, but in a new window. As long as you add your link to the linky list, and link to one of our announcement posts, you should be able to take part. Don’t forget to add our the #cherished badge to your sidebar.
Need any help, let me know.
this is a great idea! will participate!
Thanks, and welcome!
Awesome Networking and Learning Opportunity! I’m IN! 🙂
Please hop in, and happy to have you!
Of course, most cherished must be my pets. Maybe my husband. Hmmm…. Now there’s a decision.
Yep it is! Hope you’re joining us, Jacqui!
Interesting challenge . Love to be part such a wonderful challenge .
Hi Ashwini, thanks for joining in and pls help spread the word on #Cherished via all social media 🙂
Hi Damyanti, This looks like a fab challenge. What a great way to meet new people and make friends. I am headed over to the linky to join. 🙂
Hi I would like to join.
Sure, just add your blog link to the linky list, and you can participate.
Oh, this looks interesting!
Join in, Jill 🙂
I am joining! I love writing challenges and I feel they are such a nice way to meet new people and many more friends. Additionally learning new things about each other! 🙂
Excellent. Agree with you on all points. Please share this on social media on the #cherished tag.
Love the idea of this! I’ve done blog hops, but this feels really unique and fun, more about community than a lot of other things I’ve participated in. I already know what I’m going to post about – looking forward to seeing everyone else’s posts, too!
Yay! Happy to have you, Selah. Yes, this is more about getting to know each other and a community feel. I think we get so busy following and being followed online that we forget to chat!
definitely agree – it’ll be nice to talk with people and not at them for once! 🙂

After months of hiatus from blogging, I visited Indiblogger and this is the first link I clicked on. Of course, I registered. Looking forward to the fest mood. I need it 🙂
It’s a lovely idea, but a week too early for me as I’m at Camp NaNoWriMo in July. I hope everyone enjoys themselves, though. 🙂
I missed the dates and now I am lost. I am still willing to participate if that’s possible. Please guide me.
Also, I am new at writing and I would love all sorts of feedback.
Priyanka, the blogfest is on 24-26th July, so you have plenty of time, to sign up, and to write the post.
oh july! sorry I got a little confused.
thank you so much ^_^

It’s indeed a wonderful idea. I am joining!
Excellent, Dharmesh, welcome! Please help spread the word by grabbing the badge for your sidebar, posting about this blogfest, and sharing on all social media with the tag #Cherished
Hmmm. Got me thinking.
Join in if you have the time, SImon– it will be a fairly simple post, and the blogfest should reach lots of people!
Great idea! Joined the blogfest and thrilled, looking forward to it!
Hi Stephen, thanks! Please grab the badge and place it on your sidebar, so that your audience know about it too!
THis is a wonderful idea, Damyanti! I am game. Already shared on Twitter. Will share it on Facebook and G+ closer to the dates, so more people can sign up. Such a lovely gesture and I already am planning my blog post now <3
Excellent! Please share with your entire blog audience– especially hope bloggers who use Blogspot would also join in!
Is this a physical event in some city or online meet? Couldn;t find any location details
it’s an online event: we all post about the same topic on the same day, and visit each other. This helps us make new connections and cement old ones.
Have joined, thank you!
Welcome, Bruce. There’s been about 25 signups already– why don’t you check out the other links and wave hello? 🙂
Thanks Damyanti. Yes, I’ve checked out all the links thus far and am following most!
You’re a star! Please help us spread the word by Tagging your posts with #CHERISHED on all social media 🙂
LOL! I don’t belong to any social media!
Aha! I shall not tempt you towards timesuck then 😀
Yes I am on facebook and twitter
Oh, I wish I could join, but it is on the weekend!
We have changed the dates to 24th-26th, so if you’re free on Friday, join in! 🙂
D! I just joined! I am so thrilled about this project and have some wonderful, long-term online friends. I’m really glad you are doing this. I think online friends are every bit as real and the friendships are every bit as meaningful as supposed “irl” ones. I’ve met several of my online friends and we always know each other even if we haven’t seen one another before. This is a wonderful thing! Oh, and yes, I signed up!
Welcome, and hugs!! could you also give me your comments on my FB page 🙂 You always liven up the discussion.
I have never blogged before so if someone can lead me I would love to start
Ann, I have no way to help you, because I can’t find your link. If you stop by this page again, leave me a link and tell me what help you need.
If you can please tell me how to start my link I will and maybe we can connect Thanks
Do you have a blog, Ann?

Daily Write …. Hmmmm … That’s Damyanti, right? That’s not Damyanti’s picture, is it? Oh my gosh! Damyanti has a new picture! Look how cute she is!
OH MY GOSH – a Cherished Blogfest and it’s hosted by WordPressers! Not just WordPressers, but some of my FAVORITE WordPressers.
Oh my gosh! i wish I wasn’t 64 with cranky hips and knees and could still turn a cartwheel ??????
Aww…. Sammy– you’re too sweet! Thanks for all the compliments, and am over the moon to have you join us– would have contacted you first thing if you hadn’t signed up :)!
Awww, thank you for thinking of me, Damyanti. I’m so tickled that you and Dan are part of this, and I look forward to getting acquainted with your co-hosts. I keep lingering on the Linky List wanting to click those I don’t know, then my thoughts turn to WHICH favorite object … Such fun to have this to look forward to.
I told Dan I’d reblog his announcement this Sunday so any of my readers who don’t follow him will see it.
You’re awesome. I still don’t know what object yet and my brain is scattered in a thousand different directions, but am looking forward to it.
I would love to be part of a community and blog
Keep hearing that I need to mingle a bit more, so why not? I’ll go ahead and sign up for this. Seems like it’ll be a good way to get to know some more bloggers a bit better. I’ve been at this for about five months or so, and I’ve not done a blogfest before. I look forward to learning some things from everyone.
Oh it absolutely will be a great way to get in touch with new blog friends, I can promise you that 🙂
