Will you be joining the #CHERISHED Blogfest this October?

Here’s an update on the Cherished Blogfest 2017!

Blogging is all about making connections, sharing information, emotions, opinions, memories. One of the best Blogging advice I have for new bloggers is to participate in Blogfests: choose something easy, and make new friends!

I found a very good friend in Dan Antion many years ago, and in 2015, I co-hosted the Cherished blogfest with him and other blog friends, Paul Ruddock, Peter Nena, Sharukh Bamboat and was joined last year by Cheryl Pennington and Kate Powell.

Here’s my post for last year. The ask for the blogfest was this:

Often, objects lead us to memories.

The objects we hold most dear, harbor the most cherished memories.

For the CHERISHED Blogfest 2017, we invite you to talk to us about one of your cherished objects. Tell us what it is, post a picture of it if you like, and tell us why you cherish it.

Keep your post to below 500 words.

We will share memories, emotions, information: we’ll read and comment on each others’ posts, get to know each other better, and hopefully, make or renew some friendships.

Cherished Blogfest 2017

Cherished Blogfest

The Cherished Blogfest 2017 list will be active from Friday, October 13th through Sunday, October 15th. We will, of course, open up the sign-up list in advance.

Dan has explained the reason for this change in dates very well– a conflict of dates and organization with We are the World Blogfest. It is largely thanks to Dan that the Cherished Blogfest continued last year– he did the bulk of the organizing. I hope to be a more active co-host for the Cherished this year.

The name ‘Cherished’ and the image is courtesy Cheryl Pennington, who posts brilliant images and writing on her blog. I would also encourage you to check out the blogs of the other cohosts: Dan Antion (the designer of the badge), Paul Ruddock, Peter Nena, Sharukh Bamboat, Kate Powell, bloggers with genuine and fascinating takes on everything from life, travel, fiction, art and the writing rigmarole.

How long have you been blogging? Have you taken part in any blogfests? Organised them? If yes, have blogfests helped your blog? Are you signed up for We Are the World Blogfest? Do you follow the Cherished Blogfest page? Will you be signing up for the CHERISHED Blogfest 2017?

I co-host the monthly We Are the World Blogfest: Iโ€™d like to invite you to join, if you havenโ€™t as yet, to post the last Friday of each month a snippet of positive news that shows our essential, beautiful humanity. You could add a link and a badge to one of your regular posts that weeked, in order to participate.Writer's Retreat

Blogfests have definitely helped me. In terms of increased viewership as well as giving me prompts to write on.

  • Love the idea behind this blogfest. I will have to think hard about this one. I sold or gave away pretty much everything before I moved to Ecuador. Do I even own a cherished item? I know I had many before the move and they are now happily living with other “cherishers.”

  • Thanks for the reminder! I joined back in 2015, but missed last year’s completely. Glad I won’t this year ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Damyanti – I’ll see and have checked in via Dan’s blog re the Cherished blogfest … I do the ‘We Are The World’ one and the ‘Write Edit Publish’ one … I think I’ll stick at those for now … I like to put up my own posts. Love the idea of cherished objects giving us memories of yore (is it an annual fest?) … such a good thought – thank you … cheers Hilary

    • hilarymb says:

I see if I’d been intelligent and scrolled down … I’d have found the other commenters and had the answer – a yearly fest … thanks – cheers H!

      • Damyanti Biswas says:

Hi Hilary, yes the CBF is on for one weekend a year– and the WATWB, as you know is one weekend each month :). Thanks for your support of the WATWB, and I hope you’ll join CBF this year, too!

This looks interesting. Unfortunately it’s when I’m taking my one vacation this summer. I’ll have to keep it in mind for next year though.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

You could easily schedule a post, and visit links once you’re back. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Very interesting, Damyanti. Would love to be a part of the Cherished Blogfest 2017! I’d missed it last year but am in this time.

  • Debbie D. says:

Looking forward to participating for the third year! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m glad it’s been postponed until the Fall. Many of us cut back on blogging during July/August, so you’ll likely get an even better turnout then.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Yes, that was part of the reason for the postponement. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Parul Thakur says:

I have taken up the Cherished Blogfest twice and would love to do it again ๐Ÿ™‚ Already blocking my calendar and looking forward, Damyanti.
    Thanks for the announcement.

  • pjlazos says:

    Looking forward to it!

  • I participated in the cherished blog fest last year and it was an amazing experience. I got to think about a material thing holding meaning for me. More than the material aspect, it was actually the hidden emotions. I came across many other blogs and reading them was overwhelming. Needless to say the blogfest did increase the visitor counts for my blog, atleast for that time being. This year too I will be participating and I already have an object in my mind about which I am going to write.

  • agmoye says:

This is m third year and counting, of course I will be there. A..G. Moye

  • simonfalk28 says:

“Rigmarole” – now there’s a word I don’t hear often these days! Looking forward to reading some of it though. Thanks Damayanti and Co. I’ll give Cherished Blogfest 2017 some thought.

  • Good to know about this fest, will love to join.

  • tammayauthor says:

I’d love to participate in the Cherished Blogfest. I took a look at the link. Just to be clear – I don’t have to sign up beforehand but just add it to the list with the title and URL once I have it up on my blog in October, right? I participate in a lot of classic film blogathons and there, I usually have to sign up by letting the organizer know what I want to write about ahead of time.

Just trying to make sure I get it right :-).

  • It’s not on days I post but be glad to help spread the word.
