Will You Help me Celebrate Eleven Years of #Blogging ?

11 years, that’s how long it has been at Daily (w)rite.

I started blogging here in January 2008, and we’re headed into 2019 right now. Thousands of comments, about 1600 posts, and a boatload of wisdom gained from each one of you.

A huge thank you to everyone who has stuck by me, to the bloggers who support me through every We are the World Blogfest, to the bloggers I’ve read and had the good fortune to meet, to those who comment, those who like and share the posts, to those who read and lurk. To the 41,000 subscribers of this blog.

For this blogiversary, I’m going on a ‘de-lurking’ binge, trying to comment on blogs I’ve visited but not commented on all that often. This is inspired by Parul Kashyap Thakur, who is hosting an international delurking week on her blog!

If you think one of your old posts deserves more reads, park the link here, and let us all visit each other, make new friends and renew old friendships!

Comments on blogsIn the linky list above, please do the following:

  1. Link to the blog post you want us to read, and not to your blog. I’ll delete links that lead to home pages and websites.
  2. In the Blog Title part of the Link form, add the  post title .
  3. Please visit the others on the list: you’re sure to discover blogs to follow.

Do NOT do the following with the linky list:

  1. Do not add spam or any links that are not PG13.
  2. Do not add homepage links to Websites/ Blogs.
  3. Do not add more than one link.
  4. Do not ask me to edit/ make changes to the list. (I edit typos without being prompted, don’t worry).
  5. Do not spam others asking for visits.

Happy blog visiting, and may you receive a lot of comments on the links you post!

Do you always leave comments on blogs you visit? Do you respond to all the comments you receive? What sort of comments do you like best? How long have you been blogging? Which of your posts do you want us to read? What is your blog about? How long have we known each other?

I think I started circa 2007to 2010; I know that’s crazy vague, but it was a different location and pretty different time in my life. Certainly, I can find posts clearly going back to 2012. Off and on I have tried again to make it really work as a platform for marketing my works, and for personal expression and participation. I only noticed your stuff late in 2018.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

  • Congratulations on your anniversary! I like the word delurking.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thanks so much! If you like the word, you might consider asking your followers to delurk, as well. Not all will, and that’s ok. I’ve had fund receiving comments from new faces though.

Thanks, Sravanthi, and congratulations on starting this wonderful journey! Hope to see more of each other on our blogs 🙂

  • Peter Nena says:

I saw a kid back in 2008. Just a little boy. I spoke to him on the phone this past week, on 3rd January, wishing him a happy new year, and he scared me with his voice. It was deep and rough. He has grown up. I couldn’t reconcile the child I saw in 2008 and the young man who was talking to me on the phone.
So I understand 11 years can be a long time, enough for a child to grow up and become a young person. He was 8, now 19.
Congratulations, Damyanti. You are the one person I’m so happy I ever met online. Keep blogging.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

      Thanks so much, Peter.

That’s such a kind thing to say, and yes it makes me realise that the journey has been long, and sometimes quite hard. I’m so glad I met you, too. I hope to visit Nairobi some day, and guess who I would look up for a coffee and a chat?

  • Congratulations on completing 11 years, Damyanti! Wishing you many more.
Thank you for always liking my posts.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thankyou, Mayuri! Sorry I don’t comment on them more often. Hope to do better this year.

  • Shalzmojo says:

11 years, 1600 posts and 41000 subscribers is HUGE D!!! Hugs and congratulations on this!!!

    • Thanks Shalini. I take no credit for this: kind folk like you have shown up in my online life and lent me support.

I’m just glad I’m part of this community.

  • Nita says:

Hi Damayanti. Congratulations on your blogging journey. I used to blog regularly and made tons of blog friends but stopped 7-8 years back. I also met a lot of blog friends in real life. Finally, I gave up writing the blog because writing posts and answering comments (I answer each and every one) became exhausting. The blog (A wide angle view of India) had become my life, and was interfering with real life so I stopped. Now I am more in control and started blogging again, in a controlled manner. My new blog (Crime, Oppression, Injustice) is a few months old and I have promised myself to blog only when I have something important to say. But my desire to connect online with people hasn’t waned so here I am!

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Hi Nita, you and I have similar tastes in writing: I write about Crime/ Oppression and Injustice in my fiction :). Love that you created such a huge community–I’m not regular enough nor commited enough to respond to all comments–all these years the blog has survived due to the kindness of online friends. Thank you for stopping by, and here’s hoping I see you again soon.

  • Shilpa Garg says:

11 years and 1600 posts is pretty impressive, Damyanti. Congratulations on your blogiversary!! Here’s to many many more!! Cheers!

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thankyou, Shilpa. These 11 years have all been about the kindness of friends.

  • Vinitha says:

That’s impressive, Damyanti! I also started my blog Void Thoughts in 2008, October. But never thought of it as blogging. Only in 2014 I started to actively blog and found blogging communities and all. It was never the same since. Congratulations on your blog anniversary. 🙂

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

So you’ve been blogging for 11 years as well! Thanks for stopping by, And all your support.

  • Jessica says:

Wow. Even though been blogging longer (14 years) I’m impress. I keep jumping around like a bird without a home. I started with WordPress.com gained lot of friends but I got tired of using an alias so I jump to blogger and switch my name and erase all traces of my persona 1. By the time I decide to be true I have no one huhu :'( back to zero. I switch back and forth from blogger to tumblr but last year I finally return to my first (and I think my last) platform WordPress. I hope to grow her for the next eleven years and celebrate my anniversary too hahaha 😀

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

That’s been quite a journey! I used to run a blog on Blogger as well, but that has now been merged into this site. I’m sure you’ll find your audience very soon, and be celebrating your eleventh anniversary before you know!

  • ideasflyhigh says:

Hey congratulations on 11 years of blogging. It really needs a lot commitment. I am new blogging but I try to keep up with it.

    All the best for 2019!

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

I don’t think I’ve been very committed, just very lucky in having something to say, and a bunch of super-kind online friends, who have hung around a while for a chat.

      • ideasflyhigh says:

That’s a very kind thing to say. I generally journal but that never really translates to WordPress. But I will try harder this year. Profile like yours is an inspiration.

        • Damyanti Biswas says:

Journaling is a very important discipline, and it doesn’t have to translate to WordPress.

It is what works for you.

Go on your journey. and share it with others only when you feel like it. Life is too short to force yourself to do things that you don’t find value in 🙂

          • ideasflyhigh says:

I completely agree with that. But those moments I would love to share with others are generally clouded by my distraction and sometimes laziness ?. That’s why I really appreciate all the fellow bloggers who are really committed to this.

  • ccyager says:

Congratulations!!! May there be another 11 years, and another 11 years after that! Thank you for being a loyal reader of my blog and leaving comments there. Woo-hoo! Celebrate!

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thanks so much Cinda! I love the thoughtful posts on your blog. Here’s to many more years of knowing each other via our blogs 🙂

  • Congratulations on your 11 years of blogging. Keep it up. The more we share the more we understand.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thanks, David. I find that as the years get on, the more I share, the more I realise that I know nothing, that I need wisdom and connection more than ever. Thanks for stopping by.

  • Jemima Pett says:

Rule -1 Read the instructions before adding link. I’m adding a second one, Damyanti – it’ll be obvious which is which. Sorry!

  • marianallen says:

I answer substantive comments on my blog, and sometimes ones that just say, “Sweet!” or “I agree!” I tend not to comment on blogs with bunches and bunches of comments already, out of fear I’ll repeat a question or comment. I follow a lot of blogs, so I’m ashamed to say I seldom take time to read all the other comments on a popular blog. Love you, love your writing, love your blogging! Happy blogiversary!

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thanks, Marian! I’ll always remember you for your kind comments on my fiction, and your support in my early blogging years. Thanks for stopping by, and hope to see you soon again!

  • pjlazos says:

You are always so generous, Damyanti. Thanks for being a leader in the blogging community with your ideas, your compassionate outlook on life, and your sense of fairness and empathy. Happy New Year to you and may you realize a long-time dream this year. xo, pam

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Pam, you’re kind as usual—this is half the reason I blog, for friends like you who make me feel soooo good about myself. Really helps boost my confidence when I face the blank page.

Happy New Year to you as well, and thank you for coming along on my journey and being such a supportive friend.

  • Delightful to meet you here (how have I missed you??- thanks for finding my reading-book-list post) and love the idea of delurking. I’ll add a link, but first I’ll visit those you suggest here. Eleven years is a huge accomplishment. Congrats!
Yes, I visit all who comment on my blog, and I return a comment to all who comment. I have ‘met’ so many terrific friends through our blogosphere. Sharing my writing, and reading the stories/essays of others, has opened my world.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Lovely to have met you too, Pam. Pls do add your link, so more people from on here can discover your excellent blog! Eleven years has only been possible due to kind friends who visit and comment regularly.

I can see that your community is very interactive as well, and I shall enjoy getting to know you and your community much better in 2019.

Have an excellent year and I hope to be riding along on your reading journey.

  • Stein says:

Congratulations!!!! That is quite a milestone.

  • Sarah Mitchell-Jackson says:

Wow! That’s an amazing achievement! Well done!

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thanks so much, and thank you for stopping by. Hope to see you again soon 🙂

  • Nassima says:

Congratulations ! I want to thank you for following my blog,I came to your blog for a tour & I enjoyed it, I just couldn’t find the “follow” button on your blog, since I’m around WordPress most of the time, I prefer subscribing to your blog through it..
    Have a great day!☺

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Hi Nassima, there should be a Follow button at the bottom right of the screen. If not, pls let me know and we’ll figure it out.

Thank you for your kind words, and I hope to see you here often.

      • Nassima says:

When I wrote the first comment the Follow button wasn’t there! But now I could find it on top of this page ! Done! Have a great day?

        • Damyanti Biswas says:

That’s wonderful! Thank you so much for the follow, and I appreciate your interest.

  • BellyBytes says:

Why am I not surprised? Congratulations Damyanti. Blogging is not all that easy I’ve found but you seem to have made it easier than pie. ( I’m joking – you just manage to do it effortlessly) . Hoping to see you grow from strength to strength and perhaps meet up again when you next visit my city.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thanks for your warm words, Sunita, and I’ve been a shoddy blogger last year. Trying to pull up my socks in 2019, and would definitely love to see you in February!

  • Natasha says:

    Congratulations and Celebrations, D!

Thanks so much Kala! And celebrations only make sense when everyone is celebrated, right?

  • travelwisesr says:

Congratulations Damyanti on your blogging Anniversary. Wish you the best, always ?

  • zazaxmilesoff says:
