Fifteen Years of Blogging #IWSG

How old is your blog? Would you like to help me celebrate my 15th  blogiversary? Do you have THE BLUE BAR on your Kindle or your local bookstore? What have you blogged about recently?

Starting off the  Insecure Writer’s Support Group post to say Daily (w)rite is turning fifteen!

I know so many of you via the A to Z Blogging Challenge, and yet others through the Insecure Writers Support Group. I’m incredibly grateful for all the support you’ve given me over the last fifteen years–and I wish I could do more to reciprocate.

The second round of editing of THE BLUE BAR has murdered me–I’ve ripped off and thrown out 30,000 words, so I’ve been scarce on the blog and blog visits. I promise to do better this month.

I have a few updates about my US debut, THE BLUE BAR.

— After spending four weeks as an Amazon First Read, it now has 4 stars with more than 1200 ratings. I’d be so delighted if you snagged on Kindle Unlimited.

(So many of you have posted reviews, or bought the book, and I’m honored and moved. I intend to do a post thanking you all.)

— The Starred Review from Publisher’s Weekly is indeed a magical thing for libraries. THE BLUE BAR is now available or on order in at least 40 libraries that I know of.

It’s been a delight to find it on hold in some libraries, and I suspects some of you have been my angels.

If you have a minute, please put in a library request for THE BLUE BAR. It really helps a book find its feet, especially a US debut bipoc like me. It can be done online for most libraries. All you have to do is google your library name and the phrase, ‘Suggest a Title’, together.

They’ll ask for the book details, which I’m pasting up in a handy list here:

Title: THE BLUE BAR * Author : DAMYANTI BISWAS * ISBN: ‎ 1662503911 * Publisher : Thomas & Mercer

Date of publication: 1 January, 2023 * Formats: Paperback, ebook, audio

The Blue Bar has shown up on the 2023’s Most Anticipated Mysteries & Thrillers on Goodreads, in the same month and breath as Rachel Hawkins. Color me dead.

So this is quite a change from my 4th blogiversary post, aeons ago. It all started with this blog, where I started writing daily as an exercise. A daily ritual of writing, or a daily rite, from which the blog was named Daily (w)rite.

In these years, I’ve grown as a writer, but I’ve also grown richer in friendship, and my biggest achievement with this blog is that I get to call all of you my friends!

How old is your blog? Would you like to help me celebrate my 15th  blogiversary? Do you have THE BLUE BAR on your Kindle or your local bookstore? What have you blogged about recently?

This is the first Wednesday of the month post for the Insecure Writer’s Support Group.
Founded by the Ninja writing female charactersCap’n Alex J. Cavanaugh, the purpose of the group is to offer a safe space where writers can share their fears and insecurities without being judged.
This is a wonderful group–if you aren’t a part of it, I urge you to join in!
The awesome co-hosts for this November posting of the IWSG areJemima Pett, Debs Carey, Kim Lajevardi, Sarah Foster, Natalie Aguirre, and T. Powell Coltrin!!  Go give them a follow and drop them a comment.

My lit crime novel, The Blue Bar is on Kindle Unlimited now. It is also free on Netgalley for the next two weeks.  Add it to Goodreads or snag a copy to make my day.

Have around 8 years here on WordPress but started out around 2004 and then went to Yahoo 360, Facebook (when it were still a blogsite), Multiply, etc… just let my fingers do the walking and my heart do the talking and Que Sera Sera.. 🙂

Hope the new year is all that you wish for it to be and until we meet again..
    May your day be touched
by a bit of Irish luck,
    Brightened by a song
    in your heart,
    And warmed by the smiles
    of people you love.

I’m wondering how I would celebrate my fifteen! But congratulations for this 15th anniversary and for all the places The Blue Bar is going to.

  • Wow! 15 years is quite the accomplishment. But The Blue Bar success is even better. Congratulations! Happy New Year!

  • Christy B says:

Happy 15! I’ve been around at When Women Inspire since 2014 and it’s been quite a ride over 9 years. That’s so cool you made the Goodreads list. I can’t wait to read your book (and then the second one coming later this year).

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Congratulations on the 9 years! Thanks for all the blog support, and for wanting to pick up my books! 🙂

That’s 14 years!! Amazing milestone, and welcome to Daily (w)rite!

  • Happy 15th! And congratulations on Blue Bar! I received my paperback yesterday and plan to start reading it soon.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

This is SO cool of you to order a copy! Love you for this–thank you.

  • Jemima Pett says:

Happy 15th, Damyanti! I’ve just checked and I’m over 12 now (old enough to be out on my own!) It was a great day when I tentatively asked to be your minion. I thanks the powers in the world you accepted me. I’ve learnt so much from you. Thank you. And yes, I have the Blue Bar on my kindle!

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thanks so much, and congratulations on the 12 years! No one outside the A to Z Challenge community will get the term minion, but the honor was all mine! It has been a pleasure following your blog, and I hope everyone here already follows you: jemimapett.com/blog/

Thank you so much for getting The Blue Bar. (Fair warning–it contains off-page violence, and might be a bit grim in the beginning. There’s also a love story though, and this book is less dark than You Beneath Your Skin.)

  • Happy Blogiversary, Damyanti! I’ve been blogging for 10 years and know you from A to Z 2013 onwards.

  • bikerchick57 says:

Congrats, Damyanti, on 15 years of blogging and the wonderful publicity for The Blue Bar. I have known you for almost 10 years as I started blogging in March of 2013 and met you shortly thereafter (through Dan Antion, I think). I admire you greatly as an author and a deeply caring person and hope you keep writing for many years so I can continue reading your awesome works.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thank you, Mary! Yes, I think we met through Dan, and we did start chatting in 2013!

Thanks so much for tuning in for my event with Hank yesterday. My own family and friends (other than my husband) were asleep, so having you there felt like I had my own people with me. I appreciate your support so much. Thank you for reading The Blue Bar. You make me feel seen.

  • Jemi Fraser says:

Time flies! I think I’ve been blogging for at least a decade. I’ve learned so much through blogging and met so many great people (like you!). I’m looking forward to reading the Blue Bar!!

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Jemi, I think I’ve known you for most of those 10! So pleased our paths crossed. Thank you for reading The Blue Bar!

  • Much success with The Blue Bar, Damyantig! It’s thrilling to know you have an agent looking out for your interests. The sky’s the limit! Happy 4th New Day. Fifteen years! Me too!

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thanks so much, Joyleen. Happy 15th blogiversary to you too!

  • jlennidorner says:

I recently started reading your book. I like it so far. Though I’m not sure I understand, early on, why someone would pay her to take off a shall or whatever. But I’m guessing it’s a regional thing that wearing slightly less holds meaning to people there. A conservative thing, or modesty. Anyway, I’m enjoying it so far. The success of your book is well-deserved.
“Without having a goal, it’s difficult to score.” Paul Arden
I hope 2023 will become everything you need it to be.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thank you for reading! I hope the purpose of the shawl becomes clearer as the chapters wear on 🙂

I appreciate all your support, always.

      • jlennidorner says:

Never really figured it out. But I enjoyed the book all the same. Reviewed on Goodreads, StoryGraph, and BookBub. (Amazon doesn’t let me review because I don’t spend enough money there. 🤷‍♂️ But my cousin also read your book and said she gave it 4 stars, so there you go.)

        • Damyanti Biswas says:

That’s so cool of you, thanks! The shawl is so she’s covered, and no one sees her costume. It’s not the kind of clothes a woman like her would wear, and certainly not in daylight, so the culprit doesn’t want her to draw unnecessary attention.

  • You deserve every success!!! Congratulations on your anniversary and your new book!

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thanks so much, Joy. It’s been a true pleasure knowing you all this while. 10 years, I think. So much gratitude for your support.

  • Happy 15th Anniversary!

  • Congratulations Damyanti. You have come far and this is truly impressive. I have gone 7 years so far though I must say that last year didn’t amount to much writing wise. All the best with The Blue Bar.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thank you so much! I need all the blessings!

Congratulations on 7 years, and here’s to many more.

  • Mick Canning says:

Fifteen years is pretty impressive, Damyanti. I’ve managed seven so far.

  • Your hard work and dedication has left many memorials to your talent and this current book will be a success too.

  • arlene says:

    Wow, 15 years…how lovely!

  • rxena77 says:

You are living proof of what talent and persistence can do. Best of sales! 🙂

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Roland, I’ve learned so much from all of you. I couldn’t hold a candle to your persistence and grit. Thanks for the kind wishes!

  • That is awesome! Wow, I can’t imagine that many reviews on any of my books. Considering how few leave reviews, that means there were a ton of sales. Great way to celebrate fifteen years!

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thanks so much, Alex. SO MANY of the reviews were from my blog friends. The support has been incredible.

  • Well done you! what a journey!

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thanks so much!! And we’ve been on each others’ blogs for a while!

  • Bravo, Damyanti! It’s just amazing what you’ve done as a new author. I listened to your Instagram presentation today, but couldn’t get the FB reading to work. Darn! I’ll catch it another time.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thanks, Jacqui–it means a lot, coming from you. Will be posting reviews on your books this week–so sorry have been swamped.
