Do You Believe in Blessings and Good Fortune?

What about you? Do you believe in good fortune? Has something in your life given you the faith to keep going on?

To tell you the truth, I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since the publication of You Beneath Your Skin. I started drafting it in 2011. It found a publisher in 2017 and set off on its journey in 2019.

Then the time-warp of covid swallowed up a few years and here we are in 2024. Open Road Media has picked up the ebook rights for the book and and we have an entire setup in place for the proceeds to go to Stop Acid Attacks and Project Why.

It’s been a while getting here and in the interim I’ve already published the Blue Mumbai series. It does feel good though to see the new cover for You Beneath Your Skin and I can only hope it will continue to find new readers over the years.

I’m hopeful for an audiobook, and the sale of screen rights. It calls for a bit of perseverance, but that’s one thing I have in spades. No idea if I have any talent, and I have no control over timing —that most magical of phenomena that makes or breaks a book–but I know I can keep on keeping on. Let’s cross fingers this post ages well, shall we?

In this new year, I’m going to continue keeping faith in good fortune. This book has received a lot of love and it tells a story that needed to be told. In the meanwhile I’ll celebrate his entry into US chores and cross my fingers. You Beneath Your Skin needs all your good wishes.
What about you? Do you believe in good fortune? Has something in your life given you the faith to keep going on? Have you read You Beneath Your Skin? Do you like the new cover? What’s the new year been like for you so far?

Many congratulations on the new journey of YBYS, Damyanti. Good wishes definitely work and so does perseverance and talent. You have the latter in plenty, and I’m sending a truck load of good wishes along!

Thank you, Sonia, that’s so sweet of you to say! I’m hoping the book finds more people and continues making its way through the world. I’m sending a truck load of positivity right back at you!

  • You are making a substantial contribution to literature and enjoyment in reading.

  • That seems like a very suspenseful book and I see that it is very popular. The new cover is amazing. Congratulations 🏆

Thank you, Thomas! I never could have guessed how far this book could go, and I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to get it published. Without this book to start off my journey, I doubt I would be where I am today. So glad that you like the cover!

The new cover looks fabulous, Damyanti! Congratulations on all of your success. It’s well-deserved. ” No idea if I have any talent” Surely you jest! You are one of the most talented writers I know.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Debbie, you wouldn’t say that if you saw me struggling with my edits right now. But thank you for saying it, because it tells me maybe I have a chance at this writing shindig yet. This is what good friends are for 🙂

  • Joe says:

You have had some very good luck, Damyanti! But it’s also true that people do a lot to make their own luck–your hard work is paying off!

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Hard work is a given, but fortune is what makes things a success I’ve realized. I’ve seen some very hard working people continue to toil without significant improvements in their lives or work.

  • I do like the cover–interesting the new publisher designed a different one for US audiences. I enjoy reading the ins and outs of your publication journey.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Yeah, they thought a new cover will make a difference for the US audience. I think they did a decent job with it.

  • John Hric says:

I think there is a balance of good and bad fortune. And at the moment you are one of the representatives of good fortune.

    • Damyanti Biswas says:

Thank you so much. I hope the good fortunes of this book continue because the royalties go to excellent causes. I’ll never earn a cent from this book, but will always root for it to go places.
